1. EXT. GLACIER. DAY
On an empty ice plain, a Scrat (prehistoric squirrel) scurries along carrying an acorn trying to find a place he could plant on ground. He jumps from one place to another trying to dig a hole on the ice to hide his acorn but the icy ground is too hard for him to dig.

He moves here and there and finally finds a soft spot where he can plant his acorn. He jams his acorn in the ground and tries to drive his acorn in by jumping up and down on it. His jumping, however, causes a crack on the ice ... which continues to crack along the whole plain to a glacier nearby. The glacier cracks and a large chunk of ice starts to fall.

The Scrat screams and hurriedly pulls his acorn stuck in the ice and runs off before the glacier can get to him. Suddenly, two walls of glaciers close in upon him.

The Scrat runs for his life. Before the two walls crash, the Scrat makes a narrow escape. He shoots out through a little crack between the walls to the sky. He goes up and up and ... falls down and down to the ground. He hits the ground and tumbles down and down ... and reaches the bottom. He is on a plain.

When he gets up, his acorn hits him in the head. The Scrat is happy to be united with his acorn again. He hugs his acorn in happiness ... but soon he is stomped by a large foot. When he recovers, he is again stomped by other animals again and again ... and again.
He is in the middle of a migration. One animal stomps over the Scrat and the Scrat gets glued flat to the bottom of the foot. Every time the animal sets his foot on the ground, the Scrat screams and moans.

Two freaky mammals are following the migrating herd.

Freaky mammal #1: Why not call it the Big Chill? Or the Nippy Era? I'm just sayin' how do we know it's an Ice Age?
Freaky mammal #2: (impatiently) Because of all the ice!

He leaves freaky mammal #1 behind.

Freaky mammal #1: Well, things just got a little chillier.

The Start kids are in a tar pit, wailing.

Start kids: Help! Help!

Dad Start looks down at the pit at his children.

Dad Start: Come on, kids. Let's go! The traffic moving.
Start kid: But-but-but, Dad.
Dad Start: No buts. You can play extinction later.
Start kid: Okay. Come on, guys.

The kids climb out of the pit, a little disappointed.
Two female glyptodons (prehistoric turtles) waddle along having a conversation.
